The Blue Fiat — and a Father’s Lessons from its Front Seat

The Blue Fiat — and a Father’s Lessons from its Front Seat

This book is a tender road story for anyone who has ever learned more from a quiet conversation than from any lecture. When Mr. Bora takes his son Aadi on a slow drive from Sibsagar (a district, a historical city in Assam, India) to their native village in Jorhat (another well-known district in Assam), their old blue Fiat becomes more than a car — it becomes a classroom, a confessor, and a keeper of small truths. Over the pathways and landscapes that they drove across, father and son share stories, practical wisdom and gentle metaphors that deliver some great lessons of life !

Set in the backdrop of 1990s Assam with warmth, humour and clear-eyed feeling, this book stitches domestic scenes and rural craft into a map of adulthood. It is a celebration of steady presence, of everyday courage, and of the small rituals that hold families and communities together. Practical, poetic and deeply human, Blue Fiat will make you want to check your own lists — and call someone you love. Perfect for readers of contemporary fiction, memoir-laced parables, and anyone hungry for simple, lasting lessons learned on the road.

THE PURPLES – friendships stitched on a Purple Canvas

The Purples are the mixed shade evolved from many colours — eight young people who meet in the city of Guwahati (a city in Assam) and, through music, food, bookfair, late-night conversations and tiny acts of affection and care, form a family. The scenes are modest such as — chai and pakodas, cassette tapes and slambooks, house parties, jamming sessions, friendship bands and even Orkut profiles (the old school era of Facebook) — but the book is built on the large, quiet work of presence: how people keep one another, how they forgive, how they show up, how they protect, how they keep secrets. Set against the 1980s–90s backdrop before social media smoothed everything into instant signals, their friendships are tactile, steady, loyal and patient. I wanted to capture that texture: the way a song can stitch strangers into friends, how a revealed secret can become a shared duty, and how a farewell can become a lifetime of small rituals. This book is offered to anyone who remembers — or wonders about — the taste of friendships that grew slowly, with obligation and joy braided together. It is also for younger readers who may not have lived that era: for you, these pages are a small map of what steadiness looks like, and why a single honest relationship can outlast many loud moments. If the world now prizes speed and spectacle, the Purples insist on something quieter: loyalty, repair, and the courage to remain ordinary together. Thank you for opening this canvas and walking with them for a while. I hope these friends remind you of someone you once had, someone you still have, or someone you might yet meet. If one line from their evenings stays with you — a shared laugh, a private apology, a friendship band passed on a roof — then this book has done its work.

Tafarna

Tafarna

In the year 2041, under the glittering lights of an international award ceremony, Tafarna—a young Malagasy woman recognized for her groundbreaking contributions rural sustainability—stands before the world. Her story, however, is far more than accolades; it is a journey that began in a small rural village, where poverty, limited opportunities, and the challenges of survival were her earliest companions. This book traces Tafarna’s path from humble beginnings to global recognition, unfolding through her conversations with Irana, a curious schoolgirl who sees in Tafarna the reflection of her own dreams. Their relationship becomes the lens through which the story is told: an intimate dialogue that bridges generations, experiences, and aspirations. From the smoky kitchens of her childhood, where clean cookstoves first inspired a vision for change, to the corridors of international forums where she shapes policies and projects, Tafarna’s journey is one of resilience and determination. Along the way, she forges bonds with mentors and visionaries like Dr. Nihan Borah, and creates her own foundation to uplift girls, empower communities, and build climate-resilient futures. Through village projects, global collaborations, and the mentorship of other changemakers like Irana, Tafarna proves that a single seed of hope, when nurtured with courage and community, can grow into forests of transformation. Blending cultural richness, real world challenges, and modern elements of science, technology, and social progress, this novel is both a story and a movement. It reminds us that every child with a dream can become a beacon of change—and that in every generation, new Tafarnas are waiting to bloom. It’s all about the dreams that refuse to die.
